Max/MSP
All sounds are processed live (no samples). My main sound source is a mixer feedback loop, into which I blend voice, autoharp, shortwave radio and homemade oscillators. Occasionally this audio is fed into Max/MSP for additional real-time processing. The Max/MSP patch contains some looping stereo buffers, each of which scrubs through live audio at different speeds and in different directions, sometimes jumping within the buffer to new locations jarringly or smoothly over long periods of time. Each time one of these buffers cuts into a new slice of audio and/or changes its pitch/speed, messages are sent to a complex network consisting of ring modulation, spatial manipulation, and granular synthesis. All of these operations can be randomized or controlled manually.
